Erie / ˈ ɪər i / is a city in and the county seat of Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States. Named for the lake and the Native American tribe that resided along its southern shore, Erie is the fourth-largest city in Pennsylvania, as well as the largest city in Northwestern Pennsylvania., with a population of 101,786 at the 2010 census. The estimated population in 2016 had decreased to 100,055. The Erie metropolitan area, equivalent to all of Erie County, consists of 276,207 residents.Erie is situated between Buffalo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. Erie’s manufacturing sector remains prominent in the local economy, though health care, higher education, technology, service industries and tourism are emerging as greater economic drivers. Altoona is a city in south central Pennsylvania Blair County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is the principal city of the Altoona Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Johnstown is a city in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, United States, 43 miles (69 km) west-southwest of Altoona and 67 miles (108 km) east of Pittsburgh. The population was 20,978 at the 2010 census and estimated to be 20,402 in 2013. It is the principal city of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Cambria County.
